COMPANY

MOSCONI company was founded in 1951. Production plant and head-offices are located in Annicco (Cremona), 70 km east of Milan.
The plant is specialised in the production of insulating bricks called ISOLMOS, that combines the excellent insulating characteristics of expanded perlite with the stability of ceramic-bonded materials.

The company is owned and directed by Mosconi family, that, taking off from an original idea, has developed its own peculiar production process and achieved both the highest standard quality and an high efficiency of production.

Thanks to the constant updating of the machinery together with the increasing market approval, MOSCONI has grown year by year becoming one of the largest and most modern plant in its field.
At present, the plant is extending over an area of 30.000 m², of which 10.000 of covered area.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

The bricks are obtained by a mix of selected clays and expanded perlite, processed in the plant-facilities according to the internal specifications.
The bricks are mould-pressed directly to final size, than dried and fired at 900 °C.
The finishing department allows to produce every kind of special shapes and machined bricks.

All raw materials are regularly tested and chemically analysed in our laboratory before being introduced in the process, while all the phases in the process are performed under controlled conditions. The final inspection verifies the conformity of the final product to specifications.
Since 1992 our quality system is ISO certified, updated to ISO 9001-2000 from june 2003.

BRICKS

The production includes 3 grades of insulating bricks for max. service temperature of 900 °C:
- ISOLMOS 450, highly insulating, very low density bricks;
- ISOLMOS 550, with higher mechanical strength; - ISOLMOS AW-500, criolite resistant and CO resistant.

ISOLMOS bricks offer outstanding features:
- excellent Insulating properties
- high mechanical strength
- structural and dimensional stability
- minimal creep in compression
- very light weight
The ceramic bonding of ISOLMOS assures the stability of the characteristics for years and in all range of temperature.

All ISOLMOS bricks are available machined with extremely close dimensional tolerances (max ± 1 mm).
Yet, ISOLMOS 450 are mainly used not-machined, presenting acceptable dimensional tolerances for most application ( ± 2%, min 3mm) at very attractive price; the mould-pressing technology offers sharp edges and smooth surfaces.

SIZES

ISOLMOS bricks are available in all international standard sizes.
ISOLMOS 450 are produced also in large sized slabs (max dimensions mm 500x250x152), for a quick installation and less joints, easy to handle thanks to the low weight.
The moulding system allows the highest flexibility for the tailor-made production of special shapes at an advantageous price.
ISOLMOS are extremely easy to cut and shape on job-site, also with hand working tools.

PACKING

The bricks are shipped in a safe way all over the world, packed on wooden pallets, heavy cardboard around the pallet and shrinkfilm. Additional corner protection and plastic straps can be added where required.

By truck it is possible to load No 48 pallets 4-ways (about 48 m³).
By container is possible to load No 40 pallets 2-ways (about 45 m³).
Only for domestic market an economic but safe packing is used as well.

Thanks to the good ratio quality-price, our bricks are appreciated in the market in all 5 continents, where we export over 75% of the sales; the market share is increasing together with our increasing production capacity.
The distribution system avails itself of refractory distributors that purchase directly from MOSCONI and resell to several industrial sectors like:
